Take time with your subjects and you’ll get better results

October 12, 2018

People always ask me why I like shooting portraits; for me it’s more than just the image, it’s about respecting the subject. I love making them feel at ease with me, I don’t just run up and point my camera unexpectedly! I like to spend time getting to know them, making them laugh and letting the conversation flow. This way you build trust and they relax, letting you freely take their portrait. Afterwards always, ALWAYS, show them your images! This helps further build a relationship & a foundation of trust in your work. It also makes people feel good!

This woman was very reluctant to have her photo taken & she insisted on me giving her money, (I know this is something you should never do, as it encourages begging) but after we laughed and I showed her some of my other portraits she openly said, “Take my picture.”

Take time with your subjects and you’ll get better results. 🌎🇵🇪
