I am very excited to announce that one of my images has been selected for a group exhibition that explores boundaries within the world. The exhibition will be at RAW Labs located in Royal Albert Wharf and runs from 21st June to 30th June. There will be a wide range of mediums from Photography to Painting.
Meet Denilson and his younger sister Luciana, who I met during my time photographing Lima, Peru. They stand over the pits of the Plaza de Toros de Acho; Lima's premier bullring. For some of the locals, this ancient building is at the heart of the community, showcasing a sport which derives from their Peruvian culture and history. Denilson and Luciana are accustomed to bull fighting, as it's is something they've been brought up with. Bull fighting is controversial in Lima, with Peruvians protesting against the sport frequently, due to it's cruel nature. Photographing Denilson and Luciana really highlights the fine boundaries of culture and acceptance, what people believe to be good and what people to believe to be bad. I like to think as a photographer of people, I don’t judge a person on their beliefs, I simply capture what is presented to me in that moment.
Show Opening Friday 21st June 7pm - FREE.
